Historical Arch. Juvarra Cupola in Italy
In the Region Of Piemonte, in the North-West of
Italy, the Architect Filippo Juvarra created several architectural jewels like the Bell Tower in Cigliano.
The structure of the
original cupola was made in Oak Wood and the same wood was utilized for the boarding of the surfaces. The final layer was one millimetre
copper sheets united only with a system of double bending without any welding.
The challenge here was, not only to repeat the original form and style of the Architect Design, but remake the same structure
and finish utilizing the same techniques of his time, avoiding the temptation of an higher technological choice.
So, we did it the same way, like our grand-grand-grand father did. The amount of labor we put in this project is equal to the
amount of Love we put in it, Love for our work and for the wood we used for the restoration of an Italian Architectural Heritage.
The same Love and dedication is one of the ingredient that united to the most incredible hardwood of the tropic, the Italian
creativity and taste for any artistic issue, produce a recipe able of creating astonishing furniture and constructions where the etnichal
influence add a special touch in the choice of some material and structural design.
Playa Nicuesa Lodge
In this case the challenge was double: creating something unique in a remote location without
any road access.
As usual for us, some difficulties in the realization of a work, just add some more interest and make the challenge
more worthly, but in this specific situation we really had to figt against so many different problems that when we finished the
complete construction in the specified time we feel
really
happy!
For to build this impressive
Lodge,
we moved all the
materials, 75% was wood,
across the Golfo Dulce by
barge, and all the ground
moving was by human power!
With the aim of preserve at the maximum was possible the local environment, no mechanical vehicles have been used in the building
operation.
Our crew of specialized carpenters worked really hard, with a lot of passion for to create from the nothing a first class interantional
Lodge in the middle of the jungle, and all this work was done during the rain season!! Here around nobody really believed that was
possible!
Tres
Palmas
Rancho
&
Cabins
The challenge here, there's always one!, was to build the highest and widest rancho of the country utilizing traditional techniques
and materials. The contractor that tryed to do it before us, doesn't used the sofisticated Autocad 3D modeling we use, for to
design the structure, and calculate the details, sections
and connections, and the whole roof fell after few days from his completion.
Our carpenters worked at 90 feet from the ground and, following exactly the specification we obtain from our 3D model of the
rancho, we build a superlative structure that resisted at a 7.2 earthquake and several storms with strong winds.
This wonderful Rancho-House has some nice cabins, for the Owner and His guests, connected to it and for them we designed and
made doors and windows with Honduras pine, a very special wood for this kind of use.
Other details, like a special wooden stairs
and the kitchen cabinets in Cristobal Wood are our production and design too.
This construction, that you can see from far away in the ocean in front of the property, had became a landmark of the Osa Peninsula,
and for us a personal and professional achievement.
Others tryed to repeat the beauty of this clean structure, without having a similar
result.
